"The
animals are as much teachers as patients, setting
forth life lessons that resonate long after they
are gone."
Susan Marino
We
are blessed at Angel's Gate with the most wonderful people
who volunteer their time, labor and love. Without our
crew of selfless helpers who range in age from 10 to 87,
Angel's Gate would not be able to care for so many needy
animals.
Most volunteers are individuals who had contacted us to
offer their help. Organizations like The Long Island Head
Injury Association and The Young Adult Institute called
us to offer worker volunteers. Local high schools have
work study programs for students who volunteer at Angel's
Gate as part of their Community Service requirements.
All are welcome, all are needed and all are deeply appreciated!
Special thanks to the Merchant Marine Academy engineers
who built an out door enclosure for our leukemia positive
cats. They were called on by another volunteer who paid
for the building materials as well!
Our volunteers help in every aspect of the hospice.
If you would like to make a difference in the lives
of special needs animals, please contact us via e-mail
or by phone. Having more hands would be most welcome.
There are endless chores and activities which need attending.
The rewards are many, and I guarantee the welcome you
receive from the animals each time you come will overwhelm
you.
