ABBY'S STORY

Abby in her body splint

Only recently adopted, this sweet little Chihuahua has had a lot of medical attention and the best we can hope for, we are told, is that she will survive and remain paralyzed permanently .  The worse case scenario is that her spinal cord will progressively deteriorate and she will not live much longer.

Abby was brought to a veterinary hospital by her then family because she was not able to walk after reportedly "falling off the  bed ".  The family was told that surgery and related costs up to $6,000 might be necessary .  They decided to turn her over to the hospital which then called Angel's Gate.  Abby was adopted by Susan and taken to the Animal Medical Center in NYC for a consult and possible emergency surgery.  X-rays showed a 50% displacement of the vertebrae which likely meant that the spinal cord was severed and she would never walk again.  Surgery was not an option.

We have already spent $1600 for her and soon there will be bills for neurological consults; re-splinting; pain meds and the purchase of a dog cart.

If you can help,  please send donations for "Abby's Care" to Angel's Gate; 18 Josephine Lane; Fort Salonga; NY 11768. You can use the PayPal credit card option on our DONATIONS PAGE.
