We were honored for two weeks in the Spring of
2006 with a visit from a video production team
from Japan. The team was lead by Mr. Sato, a famous
director of animal programming. He had read Getting
Lucky, which had just been published in Japanese,
and was anxious to have Angel's Gate be a part
of the popular Japanese TV show Amazing Animals.
Their driver, Yochie, was kind enough to translate
our Home and About Us pages into Japanese characters.
We all were especially impressed with their humble
and respectful manner as well as their generosity
of spirit. Equally, they were respectful of the
animals and showed great patience and perseverance
with their subjects. Mr. Sato decided to focus
on one of our new comers Priscilla, a darling
tiny Pomeranian with "Shaken Puppy Syndrome".
She has profound neurological damage as the result
of the abuse she suffered at the hands of a troubled
person.
Japanese
Television
The show featuring Angel's Gate aired on Japanese
television October 15th. Over 50,000 Japanese
viewers went to this website to learn more about
our mission .We have received many donations along
with kind words . Some want to come to Angel's
Gate to volunteer just as our French volunteers
did after seeing us on French TV. We are hoping
to get a tape of the show to share with you.
November 6, 2006:
A visitor from Japan who came to run the NYC Marathon
came to visit us. He had seen us on Japanese TV.
He will be in New York for another week and plans
to return to volunteer. He said both he and his
wife cried when they heard the story about our
little Priscilla. He had thought about doing this
kind of work when he was starting out but went
into insurance instead.
October 23, 2006:
We have a tape of the show and it is wonderful
if only to see Susan "speaking Japanese".
They captured many tender interactions between
people and animals ,as well as, animals and animals.
Priscilla stole the show and had their TV stars
in tears.
